February 25, 2012 Trayvon Martin was murdered leaving the gas station for looking suspicious with candy and a drink in his hands. Growing up in Florida you live under certain laws that should not be prohibited but they are. One of the laws in Florida is a person who is not engaged in unlawful activity and who is attacked has no duty to retreat in Florida. Under the law of The United States, you are allowed to have the right to bear arms, but not actually use them, only in your defense.
According to Weinstein and a news teams, as they unraveled the story and some facts about the killing of Trayvon Martin, it opens up and gives you a better look on how the story happened. Trayvon Martin growing up in Miami with a father and mother being divorced, he had to bounce back from place to place because they lived apart. On the night of the famous murder, Trayvon was at home with his father’s fiancé offspring playing video games and watching movies. Trayvon Martin then went to the store, where he would eventually buy his last Arizona Tea, and skittles for his soon to be brother.
As he left the neighborhood gas station, George Zimmerman saw an unfamiliar face with a hoodie on his head leaving the gas station. Being a part of the neighborhood watch, he sought to call to the police for advice. The police clearly told him told him to hold his ground and stay steady until they would be able to arrive at the scene of the crime. George Zimmerman then took matters into his own hands, and stopped the teenager as he was walking home. Zimmerman then pulls over and gets into a scuffle with Trayvon, a couple of minutes later there is a seventeen year old black boy dead because of suspension. This case caused went viral as soon as it happened and you would think there would be justice. Florida laws basically say you have the right to pull a gun and murder someone if you feel endangered or your life is being threatened.
In July of 2013 Zimmerman was acquitted of second degree murder and manslaughter, this would then lead be the start to one of the biggest Civil Rights Movements of all time.
